Starting from the 12th of January 2015 the documentation pick-up for the execution of biometric passports for travelling abroad began in Ukraine. The outstanding feature of the biometric passports — is an incorporated electronic chip, which contains the information about the document’s owner. In particular, the following biometric parameters are imported into an electronic media apart from the standard data about the person (the name, the surname, the place of residence registration and so on and so forth): the photo, the digitized signature, as well as the digitized fingerprints of the hands’ fingers. This information will be read automatically during the passing of the border crossing points.
The introduction of the biometric passports of the Ukraine’s citizens for travelling abroad — is a crucial step for the visa-free regime with the countries of the European Union, which was remarked in the list of tasks, which were handed by the European Commission’s Chairman Jean-Claude Junker to the President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko during the Summit Meeting Ukraine-European Union.
